The first book i am recommending is The Amulet by Kazu Kabuishi. I finished the book a few days ago and now I'm on part two. I'm surprised how much i wanted to read the others because from the cover, it looked like this book was just boring and not exciting, but it was far from that. The main characters grew very interesting, as i started to feel feelings for them in the type of predicament that they were in. The story focuses on a daughter son and mother as they go through a rough time, loosing a father and a loving husband. Emily~ is a natural born leader who hasn't been the same witnessing her fathers death. Navin~ is her younger brother that loves video games and robots. There is a little surprise for him at the end of the book. Finally, Karen~ the loving mom who just wants the best for her children. she was worried about how her husbands death has affected them she wants to start a fresh new life in a quiet town in Norlen. As they try to start a new life in a nice old quiet appearing house everything becomes the opposite. 

            It is kind of a realistic and fiction so if you like realistic books this is your kind of book. The Amulet is kind of a suspense book. your reading and reading and POW. It hits you with something you were not expecting. This is a fun adventure book. they meet new friends and go on new quests. Both male and female will find this book interesting. Even though the main character is a girl, there is another main character navin. Hope you enjoy this book and continue on to the series as i'm trying to do.
